The Lumenis® Photofractional™ treatment is a complete skin rejuvenation solution that offers you remarkable results for a range of skin concerns, such as sunspots, vascular lesions, uneven texture and skin tone, and signs of aging.
The photofractional rejuvenation technology includes two solutions, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and ResurFX™ for non-ablative skin resurfacing, so that both skin tone and texture can be treated during the same session.
Consultation Required
We always start with a consultation for any new patient before beginning a treatment plan. During your consultation, we will review your medical history, listen to your goals, and address any questions you have before determining your individual treatment plan. We offer complimentary consultations in our office and online through our virtual consultation tool.
Treatment Duration
1.5 hours
Number of Sessions Needed
Typically, about 3 sessions are needed to see maximum results. Although, after the first treatment, you may notice changes in skin tone and texture.
Downtime
We recommend 3-5 days for recovery. You can expect quite a bit of swelling and may experience sandpaper feeling skin and tightness.
Duration of Results
Recommended 1 treatment a year for maintenance.

If you are looking to tackle multiple skin concerns with a single treatment and minimal downtime, a Photofractional™ in Scottsdale may be right for you! Immediately after treatment, you will feel like you have a mild-to-moderate sunburn that can last about 24-48 hours. Your skin will be slightly flushed and you may experience light flaking 3-5 days after treatment. As the days pass, you’ll see a clearer and brighter skin tone begin to emerge. As the weeks and months progress, your skin will appear firmer, smoother, and tighter. Although significant results are usually seen with only one Photofractional™, a series of at least 3 treatments every 6 weeks are recommended to experience the best results, especially with acne scarring and deeper wrinkling.

How it works
Photofractional Combined Treatments
IPL technology uses wavelengths of light that are attracted to the pigment and superficial blood vessels in your skin. Dark spots, sun damage, and broken capillaries absorb the energy from the laser. As a result, pigment damage progressively lightens and broken blood vessels close and eventually disappear. Your skin is left clearer, more even, and much brighter!
ResurFX™ uses a fractionated laser beam to create a grid of tiny thermal injuries on the surface of your skin. Your laser technician can control your treatment depth to address common concerns such as acne scarring, enlarged pores, and stretch marks. ResurFX™ stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers in the deeper layers of your skin, which results in firmer, smoother, and tighter skin over time.
A topical numbing cream is applied before your treatment to ensure your utmost comfort.

Do I need more than one photofractional treatment?
That depends. Some clients are happy with the results of just one treatment. Depending on your individual skin, multiple sessions may be needed to reach your skin goals.
Do I need to wear SPF after a photofractional treatment?
Yes, we always recommend SPF for everyone, every day. Especially in Arizona where we have sun almost every day. SPF will help keep brown spots from coming back. But SPF is always recommended to help slow down aging from the sun.
